Those wishing to apply for DMA membership must meet the following criteria:
1. Be from the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia or Western European countries.
2. Be single, i.e. unmarried.
3. Be a college or university graduate.
If you are a man from an economically-advanced Western country and have no university degree, it may still possible for you to become a DMA member.

4. Be financially independent and have a good income.
5. Be between around the ages of 30 and till around 55.
6. Be living and working in Japan with a proper visa.
If you do not live in Japan, you must be willing to come to Tokyo to meet DMA ladies.
7. Be kind and sincere.
8. Be mentally and physically healthy without bad habits.
